Your mom and I are going to be apart for almost six weeks soon! She got a dream job assisting a UC Davis professor with a study abroad class in London, her favorite city! So, she's going to be there for a month and spend a little time before and after visiting some friends who also happen to be in Europe, one in Iceland and another in Scotland! It's an amazing opportunity and I'm so proud of her for making it happen. But, before she left, we had to take a quick trip to our favorite coastal hideaway on Muir Beach.
Ah, The Pelican Inn and Pub. It was fitting since it's an English styled place and she was soon on her way to England for a long adventure. |
Her birthday was nearing - she'll actually be flying much of her birthday this year - so I went ahead and surprised her with her gift, something I'd been planning for a while, a weekend in San Diego to go swim with some rover otters! I knew she'd love it, but I didn't expect her to actually start crying! It was great to see your mom on cloud nine, nearing an amazing overseas trip and having something amazing to look forward to when she returns. |

We had a fantastic English pub lunch and enjoyed some English ales. We were the only ones around, surprisingly, so the bartender took a break to help us snap a photo. |
We played some darts in the back and your mom regaled the setting with our respective spirit animals. |
Darts has been the only game I've been able to consistently beat her at. I actually threw this bunch! |
After lunch we made the short trek to the beach, a walk which is always pleasant and beautiful. |
Then we found out the beach was a windy maelstrom! We actually had a hard time walking upright in the gusts, but we pressed on. |
The wind never slowed but we found a sunny spot to kick back and snuggle for a daytime nap. It was bliss. |
But we were so wiped by the time we got back to the car, we open the windows and enjoyed another snooze before heading home. Your mom flies for London in two days!! |
