May Day Sunset Picnic at the Arboretum

Your mom and I rang in the beginning of May with a little picnic. It'd been a while since we hung out at the UC Davis Arboretum, and the weather was gorgeous, so off we went.

I brought the long telephoto lens because we'd heard from friends that at dusk was when you had the best chance to spy the alleged Arboretum river otter. We kept our fingers crossed but saw no evidence whatsoever of the little guy. Your mom's quest to see some otters up close and personal goes unfulfilled...
Spring around here really is beautiful, and I love flowering bushes and trees.
The Arboretum was pleasantly quiet and the water totally placid. It made for a perfect backdrop for a relaxing evening picnic.

We were treated to a beautiful sunset as we snacked away on cucumber sandwiches.
On our way back we enjoyed some of the Arboretum's little exhibits strewn about and said hello to the adorably derpy llamas at the large animal stalls.
