Factory Tours in Fairfield

Your mom and I took your grandpa Gene on a back-to-back factory tour trip to nearby Fairfield, where both Jelly Belly and Budweiser operate their facilities. We always enjoy these "behind-the-scenes" glimpses into the origin of things, not to mention the free samples!

Up first was the brewery, one of a dozen gigantic facilities operated by this enormous beer brand.
They sat us down to watch some informational movies and try some beers. Your mom and grandpa really enjoyed this brand new beer that has some blackberry flavors added to it.
These are huge tanks where they age nearly finished beer on beech wood. The tour guide told us that if you drank a 12oz. glass from this tank every hour, it would take you 68 years to drain it! That's a lot of beer. And there's almost 200 of these in the building stacked up three stories!
It was a fun tour and whetted our appetite for the next stop...
This place was decked out like a theme park!
They prohibited photos on the tour, but of course I couldn't resist sneaking one shot of the jelly beans all stacked and "seasoning" for a couple days before getting boxed up.
After the tour we hit the sample bar, where they handed out a couple free jelly beans of whichever flavor you wanted.
We picked up a box of these beans inspired by the Harry Potter books. We tried flavors like dirt and vomit, which were genuinely disgusting!
Thankfully, we also picked up a couple truffles and bons to wash away the taste of those nasty beans.
