Weekend at Millerton Lake

Our good friends Marshall and Laura bought a boat! And, being the generous folks they are, they invited us out for a few days of boating this weekend. We got up early both Saturday and Sunday and hit up Millerton Lake, only 15 minutes away from our house. The weather was beautiful, the water was wonderful, and we had a great time. I'm sure there's many more lake adventures to come!

Showing up bright and early is the best. In the summer, the weather is still a bit cool but the water is amazing! Also, we showed up way before most other people, so the lake was pretty slow for a few hours, especially so on Sunday. It gave us a lot of room to speed around and have some fun.
Marshall was a great captain. He took all of the safety precautions seriously to make sure nobody got hurt. As I learned more and more and did some stuff in the water, it became clear to me that paying attention to the safety stuff was critical. One could really get messed up out there if they're not paying attention.
Your mom was up first on the tube. She had a blast holding on for dear life while the boat tugged her around.
I took a couple turns, too. When the boat turns, it can whip you around the back really fast, and after a while I was exhausted from doing my best to stay on the thing! Eventually, though, I would wipe out. One time they said I was practically doing cartwheels in the water I got whipped off so fast! It was intense!
Another fun part of Saturday was renting jet-skis for a couple hours. You can get going pretty fast on those things. About 40 MPH on these feels like you're flying at about twice that as you skid around the water. It was pretty sweet!
I got the jet-ski rental as a sort-of gift for your mom and she had a blast zipping around on her own for a while. She turns into quite a speed-demon when she gets a chance.
On Sunday I tried to get up on both a wake-board and some water-skis. Neither one was happening (this is as close as I got), but after some more practice I think I'm near to doing it!
Your mom was a trooper and gave it a shot too. Sadly, she couldn't get up that day either, but she isn't too far off, either. One day we'll both be slipping around back there having a blast!
