Your mom came to me yesterday and said, "Maybe we could go to that town nearby with that brewpub you've been talking about?" I lit up, somewhat in disbelief, and asked, "You mean Paso Robles?" She nodded, and we readied ourselves for a long overdue Saturday daytrip.

Our first stop was the brewery of Firestone-Walker, one of my favorite California craft breweries. Look how huge these tanks are! That's your mom in the corner of the photo! |
I had a lot of fun trying some limited, brewed-once releases an taking some notes on them. I'm really starting to get a big collection of tried beers under my belt! |
We hit up a neat antique store in town, and your mom found some cool nick-knacks for our new apartment. |
In the middle of downtown is the old town library, the Carnegie Library, which is now the home of the Paso Robles historical society. There were some interesting displays chronicling the history of the town and some of the notable people in it. |
Your mom has had a long-term ambition to be a librarian, so old stacks of classic books have always held a strong draw for her. |

Before heading home after our brief trip, we checked out a downtown Thai food shop. It was late in the afternoon so it was really slow, but they served up some great Pad Thai and Pad See Yew. |
