Hiking the Lakes Trail

Your mom and I have been enjoying using up the free entries into the National Parks we get for our annual pass. This time we trekked into Sequoia National Park and hiked the "Lakes Trail." We made it about four miles in to see Heather Lake and then turned back. The altitude was high and the bugs were biting!

About half-way there we came across "The Watchtower," a really tall spire with some spindly trees on top.
The Watchtower is behind me, and here was a great place to take a break.
Your mom reclines carefully near the cliff. Below is Tokopah Valley and Tokopah Falls.
Our stay at Heather Lake was a brief one. Every step conjured a seeming swarm of mosquitoes! We were getting eaten alive, but we tried to take in the view for as long as we could stand.
On the way out, back at The Watchtower, this little guy was scurrying around right along the cliffs! He didn't seem to concerned about the thousand foot drop immediately next to him.
