From Pinnacles to Morro Bay

Your mom and I have made this an amazing summer, getting out and seeing as much as we can. Today we took a long day trip to add to the list Pinnacles National Monument which was on the way to Morro Bay.

We didn't get too far into Pinnacles, but we did get to see Condor's Crags, one of the highlights of the park.
Wandering around the trailheads, we saw a lot of buzzing bees doing their work.
We also saw this pretty "silver-studded blue" butterfly. I had to look up what this guy was called when we got home.
After leaving the park, we made our way to the coast. Here your mom getting some air on the beach near San Simeon.
This part of the beach was really rocky, but it made for a neat landscape.
The beach squirrels here were scurrying all over!
As we approached Morro Bay, Morro Rock stood out obviously in the bay. It is enormous!
We hiked around a bit on some of the trails just off the beach, and saw some pretty birds.
The sun set off the pier, just behind where we ate dinner.
In the summer the sun goes down late, giving us some light almost all the way home. Halfway home, we stopped to catch this shot of the moon guiding our way.
