Impulse trip to Carmel

Your mom and I fell in love with Carmel as soon as we rolled into this town the first time, and since then we've had to visit again a few times. Realizing how long it had been since the last visit, we sort of impulsively decided to go up for the day and have a picnic on the beach. It would also be a nice way to escape the brutal heat of the summer in Fresno.

On our way we stopped briefly in San Juan Bautista, a cute little town where hens and their chicks roam free : )

We looked and felt a bit wind-swept on the beach that day.

The squirrels on the beach were bold!

Then, we suspected the squirrels were simply trying to distract us so this guy could swoop in and steal our picnic!

It is a tradition of ours : )

We ended the day with a hot chocolate at this little cafe on Ocean Street.
