Trip to the lighthouse at Pigeon Point

Your mom and I went on an adventure today! We took a long drive to the coast to see Pigeon Point lighthouse. Your mom particularly has a thing for the history and majesty of these long outdated but substantial structures. It was a full, wonderful day.

On the way to the coast, we stopped in San Juan Bautista on a lark and got a kick out of the quaint. In town the roosters and hens seem to wander free!
San Juan  Bautista is a good town for finding cool, vintage stuff, and your mom adores searching for treasures.
The town was wonderfully quaint, and we happened to visit on a day that a car show was going on featuring nice restored classic cars.
Later on our trek, we stopped briefly in Santa Cruz, the home of Natural Bridges State Park.
There's something so majestic about birds soaring nearby overhead.
We stopped here in Santa Cruz for Thai food, one of our favorite styles, especially on the road.
Out of the corner of our eye we spotted this amazing little cove along the highway on the way to the lighthouse. We had to stop and explore!
The water was cold, in case you couldn't tell from your mom's expression!
Not far from the cove was a beach where many kite surfers were skimming along.
The tall Pigeon Point lighthouse finally came into view.
We stopped to get a closer look and see what we could see.
Inside they had exhibits discussing its history, which we found fascinating. Most lighthouses have something of a tragic past, stories of wrecked ships on the rocks.
I love to catch your mom unawares in a photo. Yes, she really is that beautiful!
