Your mom and I had been wanting to show our great friend Matt around some of our favorite coastal spots, and we finally did it this weekend. We took him out to Point Reyes National Seashore to enjoy an afternoon on the beach, something he has
never done in his entire time in California. It was well overdue.
We started out enjoying some spots in Point Reyes Station, which was hopping on this Saturday due to a farmers market and a Mexican festival going on in the central square. We got some local hummus and chips to bring with us to the beach and enjoyed a beer in their authentic old world saloon. |
But before the beach we had to hit up one of our favorite joints in the area, Saltwater. |
Matt and I enjoyed some oysters, and Matt finished his lunch with some buffalo ice cream... It was definitely distinct but incredibly creamy and smooth and delicious. |
We swung by the Point Reyes lighthouse, but it was swamped with weekend tourists, so we didn't make the long trek out to the point, instead finding a nice and slow spot on North Beach to hang out. |
Matt entertained us with some "gymnastics" of sorts. |
We finally got some good use out of our beach tent! (Last time bees kept us from being able to hang out). We lounged, enjoyed some beach beer, played some music, chatted it up, and had a great, relaxing time as the sun got lower and lower. It was just what the doctor ordered after a long week. |
