Your mom and I took a quick day trip back out to Muir Beach to see the water and visit one of our favorite places, the Pelican Inn, where I was to get my first taste of a real English-style high tea!
The woods surrounding the beach and the inn are quite a pleasant nature preserve. |
And there's a small ranch where we always see horses milling around. Some time we'll have to go on a ride! |
The inn is a wonderfully done replica of a traditional English pub and inn that serves as a bed and breakfast in this remote little part of the State. |
Before our tea reservation we settled into the pub for a drink. The drive took a little while thanks to some extra traffic, so we stretched out, played some darts, and relaxed a bit. In darts I beat your mom two games to one, finally finding a leisure activity that I could best her! |
The pub is spot on like some of the older places we sat in during our England trip last year. So cozy! |
And the dining room has a lot of really wonderful old-world charm to it. |
We had some great tea times in England, but this was my first true three-course high tea with all the sandwiches and pastries. The tea pots sat on little stands with a candle underneath to keep it hot. |
After stuffing ourselves to the brim, we walked it off a bit down at the beach. The weather was fantastic, and relaxing while listening to the waves always does us wonders. |
How'd I get so lucky in life, I wonder? |
