Your mom and I spent a wonderful long weekend with Marshall and Laura and the kids along with Marshall's sister, Melissa, brother-in-law, Joe, and their infant twins. So, there were lots of kids to keep us entertained as we relived the fun of our Windsor trip from 2011.
Your mom and I started out by hitting one of the new breweries on the way in Sebastopol, a cute, quaint little town we've come to like a lot. The beer was good and made for a nice intro to the weekend. |
I ended up biting off a bit more than I could chew with the piggy-back rides. This sight became routine, and eventually I had to tell them, "I need a break!" The first night we ate in and the guys enjoyed sharing each others' recent homebrewed beers, which is always a lot of fun. |
The kids were as lively and fun-loving as ever. It's always charming. |
Since the trip was over Valentine's Day weekend, the guys treated the girls to a day on their own with a spa package and massage. They loved it, and we took the little ones for shuffle-boarding and playing in the park. Your mom and I eventually got pretty good at this later on. |
Even though the newest Disney movie, Frozen, had been out for a few months, the kids' obsession was still quite strong. This was fortunate for me, because I've actually been pretty preoccupied with it, too! Laura drew a pretty good rendition of Elsa here. My drawing of Olaf left a lot to be desired...but I said, "Let it go!" |
When just hanging out at the resort, there was always things to do. Here Marshall schooled Joe and me in pool. |
The newest addition to the Schott family, Olive, is a gorgeous and happy baby, and the older two, Hazel and Roscoe, are always so sweet to her. It's more adorable than you can imagine. |
Your mom's love of Roscoe continues to shine on in a big way. |
We all went as a big group to Bear Republic Brewing, a well renowned place in nearby Healdsburg where we all went together on the first trip to Windsor. The place was packed! |
It was good to see these two again after a long while, and they've recently moved to Berkeley, so with our upcoming plans to move into San Francisco, we'll be quite close to one another. On this trip Joe even brought his own invented card and board game which he and I played. I thought it was quite fun with some good, easily learned, and clever mechanics. And, it involves collecting beer brewing ingredients! |
The older kids have been taking swim lessons and they showed off their skills a the pool. Hazel simply never stopped climbing out, jumping in, and swimming across the pool the entire time. |
Roscoe, the lady killer. |
On the last evening Laura and Melissa discovered this small ranch which neighbored the resort. We were able to show the kids the burro up close and enjoy the sunset on our last night together. |
As always, it was excellent to see our old Fresno friends again. We miss them constantly though I think we do a good job of staying in touch despite the distance. For now they're married to their wonderful home in Fresno while we're married to exploring and moving about, but we keep making points to see each other whenever we can, and that makes a big difference. |
