Your mom and I made another trek into the city this weekend to visit her friend Kelley, a woman she met briefly (and
quickly became friends due to their remarkably similar interests) in Davis before Kelley moved to San Francisco. They had plans to see a show and visit the deYoung Museum to explore the Bulgari jewelry and David Hockney painting exhibits, so I took advantage of some alone time to visit some spots in the city.
| We started out at the mall to check out some of the nicer clothing stores your mom had been wanting to see for a while. She was starry eyed wandering the aisles of these chic places and found a small something to take home. |
| The city is such a bustling place. It's chaos in the streets, clogged with cars and every variety of people. Always a spectacle, to say the least. |
| We met up with Kelley at Magnolia, the amazing little "gastropub" I remembered from my birthday last year. The girls caught up and planned the rest of their visit while I sipped on delicious cask beers. |
| Your mom stayed the night in Kelley's small place in the city after a night of shopping and theater. After wandering Union Square they saw a show, "London Idol 1610," which ended up being a collection of comical shorts based on basically all of Shakespeare's plays. The girls were still laughing the next day! I made my way back into the foggy city the next morning with an agenda to check out another new beer place I hadn't seen yet. |
| While the girls visited the deYoung to see some art, I saddled up in this quiet joint, a San Francisco location for a big Oregonian brewery. They had some interesting stuff to sample! |
| After we met back up and said goodbye to Kelley, your mom and I checked out one more neat beer place on the way home, Speakeasy, which recently built a bona fide speakeasy tucked into one of the more industrial areas of town. It was quiet and cozy on a Sunday afternoon. |
