Starting Off My Birthday Weekend at Anchor

Well, I turn 30 this weekend. To celebrate your mom has been wonderfully encouraging to make this birthday a special one. She started out by suggesting we finally tour a brewery in San Francisco I've been wanting to check out for quite some time, Anchor Brewing. We had a whole lineup planned for this weekend with friends, but this first jaunt would be just for us.

Anchor sits in the heart of an industrial portion of the city, with a great view right out the window of the brewhouse.
For their reach, they're pretty small, brewing everything out of this one room.
After walking through the brewery and seeing some cool stuff, the second half was a tour of their beers, and this jolly tour guide helped us polish off some pitchers of every variety they had available. Great stuff!
Some brewers stood and enjoyed the break during brewing, something they do almost nonstop in their small brewery in order to keep up with demand. It was cool to enjoy a glass of beer only feet away from where it was born.
An excellent beginning to what would be a weekend to remember.
