Your mom and I took your grandpa Gene into Central Park tonight for a cool beer and film festival sponsored by a great Colorado brewery, New Belgium. The festival featured about 20 short films of various types. Some were documentaries with a big budget look, some were drawn or animated with clay or paper, some were shot entirely with a camera-phone. All in all, most were very interesting and enjoyable. Every penny of the proceeds went to a local charity, and Davis was the only city in California that the tour stopped in, which made it a real treat.

| We packed up and got ready for a night on the lawn! |
| It was still pretty hot but it eventually cooled down once the sun set and night fell. |
| The name of the film festival comes from a series of beers in New Belgium's lineup called "Lips of Faith," so named because they're kind of bizarre beers. Some are sour, some are really fruity, some are really strong and chocolaty. Your mom and grandpa both found a favorite in the bunch. |
| They set up some booths with fun beer-related games. In one they took three of their beers and blended them in different amounts and you had to guess what amount of which beers was in the mystery blend. |
| During the intermission, they called up any who wanted to duke it out with shadow puppets. The whole thing had a fun, clever and light-hearted feel which made the whole evening really fun. It's stuff like this that makes me enjoy this world of microbreweries out there. They're all very fun, local, and charitable organizations. |
