Point Reyes with Grandpa Gene

Your mom and I wanted to take your grandpa Gene to the coast, so we headed out for another daytrip, this time to Bodega Bay and then the lighthouse at Point Reyes. Your grandpa has a real fascination with the ocean, so it's cool to be able to take him out and show him the sights.

We started out by hitting up Wildflour Bakery in Freestone, where we got this gigantic sticky bun.
And next door was a small antique shop where your grandpa played around with the vintage hats.
We usually stop for lunch in Bodega Bay at the Tides Wharf restaurant, and we wanted to show your grandpa the cinematic history of the place (it was a location for the filming of the old school horror by Alfred Hitchcock, The Birds).
Then we cruised down Tomales Bay, impulsively stopping here so your mom could get her first sample of oysters!
She ended up liking them a lot!
On our way to the Point, we got some great views of the coastline. The sun was getting low and it was more clear than we're used to seeing it. The first time we went it was completely shrouded in fog!
On the walk to the lighthouse, we really enjoyed the clear view of the long beaches.
Your mom spotted this family of deer grazing on the bushy hills near the Point.
Your grandpa said it felt like looking at the end of the world. This is Point Reyes lighthouse at the very tip, with seemingly nothing beyond except for water.
We drove home at sunset. I wonder what we'll see next : )
