This weekend your mom and I, along with her dad, moved to Davis for my new job. I was facing a layoff at my prison job near Fresno, so I accepted a transfer to another prison out of town to save my job. We decided on one in northern California to increase your mom's school and work prospects and be closer to some of our favorite places, but to do so we had to leave a lot of familiarity and a lot of wonderful people behind.

We had a going away party the night before me moved and my good friend Marshall passed down his coffee cup which he had been filling and bringing for me every morning in the carpool to work. He did that for over two years! |

Moving was rough! We hired movers which ended up being a big mistake. We pretty sure they completely screwed up the weight of our stuff and are now in a big conflict with them trying to get some money back. But, we ended up at our new place eventually and were glad to get unpacked. |

This is a photo I found online of the prison where I work now. It's a big prison hospital with a lot of sick patients and a big mental health program. I'm one of 45 psychologists on staff. |
