Your mom and I got a good tip from a coworker friend of mine to check out a neat little area outside of Mariposa called Hite Cove, where during the spring the wildflowers are in bloom. He was supposed to go with us, but he had been sick recently so he had to cancel. So, the two of us hit the road again and found some wonderful sights.

On our way, we drove by a vineyard and your mom spotted this beautiful hawk! She had been wanting to capture one of these with the camera for a long time. |
On the route to the Hite Cove trail, we passed a number of ranches. |
The thin, winding trail cut along the Merced River. |
Along the banks, all sorts of wildflowers were in bloom for the Spring. |
But the highlight of our trip were all the gorgeous Golden Poppies. |
The poppies were a beautiful foreground to the rushing river below the trail. |
Some of the smallest details can hold so much natural beauty to them |
The colors of these flowers played off each other so well. |
Where there are wildflowers, expect big butterflies and bumblebees. |

Your mom and I along the Merced River, enjoying the warm, sunny day. We tired ourselves out this time! |
After the hike, we had a great lunch in this cafe in Mariposa. All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday with your mom. |
