Mom's Birthday Trip to Carmel

Your mom and I spent her birthday weekend in Carmel, where we were married only two short years ago. We hadn't been back to Carmel since, so it was a wonderful visit to one of our favorite places with a lot of great memories. It was also a much needed return to one of the places we feel most at ease and relaxed. We were shocked to learn that the B&B we were married at (Happy Landing Inn) had been completely renovated and was under new ownership. Then, the bakery we got our wedding cupcakes had closed! Things change quickly in this world, and it reminds me how fortunate I am to have spent so much of my life with someone as beautiful inside and out as your mom.

I surprised her with a trip to an outdoor antique market that just happened to be on that weekend in Carmel Valley, the area just on the other side of the highway from the town of Carmel. She adores perusing stalls of vintage or "upcycled" or handmade stuff.
The market also featured a farmer's market with a lot of delicious food and these cut wildflowers grown just nearby in Carmel Valley.
Then it was back to town for a beach picnic. We started early because we wanted to spend almost the entire day at the beach. The weather was ideal!
Of course we hit up Nielsen Bros. for our picnic items.
And spent some time using the camera to get some stylin' photos of the surroundings.
Haven't missed an opportunity yet!
The beach was happenin' that day! It was much more active that day compared to the many times we'd been there before, and it was good to se people out enjoying the spectacular late Spring weather.
We had to make a pitstop at the library, one of your mom's favorites because it's very nice for its quaint size, just like the town itself!
