Anniversary Trip to Petaluma and Bodega

Your mom and I were married one year ago, and to celebrate we headed back to the coast for some fun. Northern California offers so many neat places to explore along the coast, and while we've definitely found some favorites, it seems like there's always more to see.

We headed to Marin County through Napa, and your mom obliged a quick stop at an unsuspecting brewery along Highway 12 in Sonoma.
The land around Petaluma is beautiful, lightly filled with farms and ranches. We took some smaller roads to soak in the atmosphere of Sonoma and Marin County.

We headed into Petaluma's old downtown, enjoyed some milkshakes, and toured the numerous antique shops.

Near the riverfront was a feral cat colony that was being carefully watched over by a local volunteer group.
In Freestone, a speck on the map between Sebastopol and Bodega, is a wonderful little bakery called Wildflour. It's become a tradition to always stop by whenever we travel this area. We usually get one of their massive cinnamon rolls or sticky buns.
The area is naturally relaxing. The roads and scenery insist you slow down.

And of course the coast around Bodega Bay is always captivating.
It'd been a while since we checked out the Bodega Bay marina...
A Bodega Bay local.
We were married a year ago, and here in Bodega was where I proposed. This whole region will always hold a special place in our hearts.
