Thanksgiving in Fresno

Our good friends Marshall and Laura opened up their home to us for Thanksgiving for the third year, making this a veritable tradition! As always, we ate well and had a great time with great people.

We always love seeing Marshall, Laura, and the kids, who get smarter and cuter every time!
Your mom worked her butt off the night before getting her contributions to the meal ready. They included these delicious banana, oatmeal, and butterscotch chip cookies, an Autumn salad with nine different chopped up vegetables in it, and this tasty appetizer made of a mushroom paste wrapped and baked into a puff pastry.
Marshall and Laura handled the turkey, which ended up being phenomenal!
They also made mashed potatoes, and they used some sour cream to make them smooth and creamy.
The turkey was plentiful, and we all got plenty full eating it with much leftover. I enjoyed one of the monstrous legs.
The whole gang. We had to do some convincing to get your grandpa Gene down there, but he did and had a great time hanging out with everyone. Hazel had a great time, too, though you couldn't tell from this particular photo...
As usual, Matt's contributions were these three pies, all of which were quite incredible. His pies are renowned!
The next morning the girls went out early to hit up some Black Friday deals. The guys stayed home, worked a bit more on Marshall's homebrew, and played this awesome and complicated board game, Settlers of Catan. It's a neat strategy game that it took me a while to get a hang of. Finally I won a game, just before we had to head home. Another great holiday we owe to our friends, and particularly our gracious hosts and our second home.
